An Gearanach Terrain Block

An Gearanach is a stunningly sharp peak in the Mamores, its name 'The Complaining One' perhaps referring to the noise of the wind on its narrow crest (or the grumbles of those climbing its steep slopes). It forms the first (or last) section of the famous Ring of Steall, one of Scotland's finest ridge walks. A gracefully curved arete connects it to An Garbhanach, offering delightful scrambling.

About An Gearanach

Part of the classic Ring of Steall. The 'Complaining' name is evocative of the soundscapes of the high mountains. It overlooks the Steall Falls, one of Scotland's highest waterfalls, adding to the drama of the location and making it a calendar-favourite view.
