An Stuc Terrain Block

An Stùc is a sharp, conical peak in the Lawers range, promoted to Munro status in 1997. It sits dramatically between Ben Lawers and Meall Garbh. The descent (or ascent) of its steep eastern face involves a scramble that can be treacherous, especially in winter or wet conditions. It looks every bit the 'Peak' its name implies, towering over the Lochan nan Cat.

About An Stuc

Formerly considered a subsidiary top, its promotion completed the set of Munros in the Lawers group. The 'Cat Gully' scramble is infamous among baggers. It overlooks the Lochan nan Cat, traditionally believed to be the home of a monster or water horse.
