Aonach Mòr Terrain Block

Aonach Mòr is perhaps best known for the Nevis Range ski centre that occupies its northern slopes, but the mountain itself is a high, flat-topped plateau of great scale. The mountain gondola allows for a high start, making it one of the more accessible high peaks, but the plateau can be treacherous in poor visibility. Its western cliffs are a playground for winter climbers.

About Aonach Mòr

Developed as a ski resort in the 1980s, Aonach Mòr transformed Lochaber tourism. The creation of the gondola and ski runs was a major engineering feat, opening up the high mountain environment to thousands of non-climbers.
