About Auchnafree Hill

Auchnafree Hill has for centuries been part of the vast royal hunting grounds of the central Highlands, its lands historically part of the ancient ecclesiastical and military history of the region. Historically, its ridges were vital lookouts for the early communities that lived in the hidden glens, its ridges used during the era of clan warfare. Geologically, it is composed of metamorphic Dalradian rock, its forms smoothed by the massive ice sheets that once covered the entire central landscape. It remains a witness to the enduring traditions of travel and exploration that define the central Highlands, offering a quiet, uncompromised encounter with the wild spirit of the hills.
