Baosbheinn Terrain Block

The name Baosbheinn is thought to mean the 'Wizard's Hill' or 'Crazy Hill', potentially reflecting its complex, shifting profile or its place in local folklore as a haunt of spirits. Historically, it has been one of the most remote mountains in the region, part of the ancient Gairloch and Flowerdale estates. Geologically, it is a perfect laboratory of Northwest Highland geology; its base is formed of billion-year-old sandstone, which is unconformably capped by the glittering quartzite of the 'Cambrian explosion' era.
