Beinn a' Bheithir - Sgorr Dhearg Terrain Block

Sgorr Dhearg is the higher of the two peaks of Beinn a' Bheithir, the 'Mountain of the Thunderbolt'. A magnificent curved ridge connects it to Sgorr Dhonuill. The mountain dominates the landscape around Ballachulish, rising steeply from the sea. The 'Dragon's Tooth' ridge leads up to it, offering a classic scramble.

About Beinn a' Bheithir - Sgorr Dhearg

Legend says a dragon terrorized the area and was killed here, curling around the hill in its death throes (forming the ridges). Sgorr Dhearg is the 'Red Peak'. It was a clan lookout point for the Stewarts of Appin.
