Beinn a' Chaorainn Terrain Block

Beinn a' Chaorainn (Glen Spean) is a long, flat-topped ridge usually climbed from Roughburn. It is famous (or infamous) for its corniced eastern edge in winter, which has caught out many navigators. The mountain offers three distinct summits along its ridge, with the central one being the Munro. It provides excellent views of the Grey Corries.

About Beinn a' Chaorainn

Name means 'Hill of the Rowan Tree'. Its flat plateau is a classic navigation trap in whiteout conditions, leading to its inclusion in many safety case studies. It was a forestry plantation area, now being restructured.
