Beinn a' Ghlò - Càrn Liath Terrain Block

Càrn Liath is the southern peak of the Beinn a' Ghlò range, and the most accessible from Blair Atholl. It is a sharp, white quartzite cone that shines like a beacon above the strath. The ascent is steep but quick, leading to a fine ridge walk towards the main massif, making it a popular first summit on the range.

About Beinn a' Ghlò - Càrn Liath

Name means 'Grey Cairn/Hill'. The white quartzite screes are very distinctive and give the peak its shining appearance. It has unfortunately suffered from path erosion due to its popularity, but restoration work by the Atholl Estate is ongoing.
