Beinn Bhrotain Terrain Block

Beinn Bhrotain is a substantial, bulky mountain in the southern Cairngorms, often approached from the historic Linn of Dee. It is a remote peak, guarding the southern edge of the great plateau. Its upper slopes are stony and barren, typical of the Cairngorm giants, but it offers solitude and vast horizons.

About Beinn Bhrotain

Its name means 'Hill of the Mastiff', potentially linking it to legends of royal hunting dogs or the mythical black hound. It was once surveyed by Queen Victoria's men, who lit a bonfire on the summit to aid triangulation.
