Beinn Bhuidhe Terrain Block

Rising as a espectacular, tiered bastion above the hidden glens of Knoydart, Beinn Bhuidhe—the 'Yellow Hill'—is a mountain of exceptional presence and geological character. While it lack the sharp precipices of the western ranges, its massive, broad-shouldered massif commands the entire southern reaches of the 'Rough Bounds' interior. The mountain is defined by its long, serrated summit ridge, a crystalline spine of mica-schist that offers one of the most comprehensive views of the western Highlands, from the Ben Nevis giants to the distant reaches of the Western Isles. About Beinn Bhuidhe

Beinn Bhuidhe has for centuries been part of the vast royal hunting grounds of the Knoydart and Arkaig estates, its lands historically vital for the wild deer herds and the ancient highland clans. Historically, its ridges were vital lookouts for the hunters and later the stalkers who maintained this landscape for red deer. Geologically, it is part of the Moine supergroup, its rocks recording millions of years of tectonic pressure, now evident in its folded rocks and sharp ridges. Today, it remains a peak of pilgrimage for walkers seeking the ultimate solitude, reachable only by long expeditions from the road-ends that preserve its status as a cornerstone of the Scottish wilderness.
