Beinn Each Terrain Block

Rising sharply from the western shores of Loch Lubnaig, Beinn Each—the 'Hill of the Horse'—is a mountain of rugged elegance at the edge of the Trossachs. Its rocky, serrated ridge offers a dramatic contrast to the rolling slopes of its northern neighbour, Stuc a' Chroin. The ascent provides an exceptional vantage point for observing the Highland Boundary Fault, where the cultivated lowlands give way to the wilder, metamorphic landscape of the Highlands. Its summit, a narrow crest of Dalradian schist, feels unexpectedly remote despite its proximity to the main road, with sweeping views that encompass the shimmering expanse of Loch Lubnaig and the distant peaks of the Arrochar Alps.

Beinn Each's history is closely tied to the ancient routes through the Leny and Pass of Stank. Its name, 'Hill of the Horse', hints at its past significance for those navigating these steep hillsides before the modern era. While often overshadowed by the Munros to the north, Beinn Each has a long tradition of being a favorite for discerning climbers who appreciate its complex geology and the challenging, rocky nature of its upper slopes. It sits in a landscape of former shielings and settlements, a reminder of the generations who have sought a living in these rugged glens.
