Beinn Eighe - Ruadh-stac Mòr Terrain Block

Ruadh-stac Mòr is the highest point of Beinn Eighe, a magnificent mountain of quartzite scree that gleams white in the sun, resembling snow even in summer. It is located in the heart of Scotland's first National Nature Reserve. The summit is reached after a scramble through complex, rocky terrain. It offers breathtaking views over the labyrinth of Coire Mhic Fhearchair, with its triple buttresses and deep blue loch, one of the most photographed scenes in Scotland.

About Beinn Eighe - Ruadh-stac Mòr

Name means 'The Big Red Stack', referring to the pinkish hue of the Torridonian sandstone that underlies the white quartzite cap, visible in the cliffs. Beinn Eighe was designated the UK's first National Nature Reserve in 1951 to protect its ancient Caledonian pine forest and unique geology.
