Beinn Eighe - Spidean Coire nan Clach Terrain Block

Spidean Coire nan Clach, 'Peak of the Corrie of Stones', is the eastern Munro of Beinn Eighe. It offers a stunningly angular profile, with a sharp summit crest of shattered quartzite. The ascent usually passes through the magnificent Coire an Laoigh, a lunar landscape of white rock. From the top, the view along the main ridge towards Ruadh-stac Mòr is one of the classic mountain sights of the northwest Highlands.

About Beinn Eighe - Spidean Coire nan Clach

Its name perfectly describes its nature—shattered stones everywhere. It serves as the gateway to the main Beinn Eighe ridge for most walkers. The area has been used for geological study for over a century due to the clear stratification of Cambrian Quartzite on Torridonian Sandstone.
