Beinn Ghlas Terrain Block

Beinn Ghlas is the 'Grey-Green Hill' that most walkers cross to reach Ben Lawers. Often unfairly treated as a mere stepping stone, it is a fine mountain in its own right with a distinct ridge. The NTS path has helped restore its vegetation, which includes rare alpine mouse-ear and saxifrages. It offers a broad, welcoming ridge walk.

About Beinn Ghlas

Overshadowed by Ben Lawers, it shares the same rich botanical history. The ridge was a traditional route for drovers and peat cutters. The erosion scars of the past have been healed by conservation work, making it a model for sustainable mountain tourism.
