Beinn Iutharn Mhòr Terrain Block

Beinn Iutharn Mhòr is a remote, shapely peak in the wilderness north of Glenshee. Its name 'Big Mountain of Hell' (or 'Turning') belies its beauty, though it refers to the rough terrain and perhaps the difficulty of the ascent. It has a sharp, defined summit ridge that drops steeply to the shimmering Loch nan Eun, a high mountain lake shared with nearby Munros.

About Beinn Iutharn Mhòr

The 'Hell' translation is contested; it may mean 'Edge-point'. It was a traditional meeting point of deer forests. The loch at its foot, Loch nan Eun (Loch of the Birds), is a scenic gem often used as a wild camping spot by those traversing this lonely range.
