Beinn Liath Mhòr Terrain Block

Beinn Liath Mhòr is the 'Big Grey Hill' of Torridon, a magnificent ridge of white quartzite scree. It runs parallel to its famous red neighbour, Sgurr Ruadh, offering a striking colour contrast. The ridge is long and undulating, with several false summits to test the walker's patience. The final summit offers a spectacular platform for viewing the Torridon giants.

About Beinn Liath Mhòr

Its composition of Cambrian Quartzite gives it the 'Grey' name, though it shines white in the sun. The geological contrast with the red sandstone of Sgurr Ruadh makes this pair a textbook example of Highland geology. It is a favourite of connoisseurs of the Torridon hills.
