Beinn Udlamain Terrain Block

Beinn Udlamain is the highest of the Drumochter Munros, a long, whaleback ridge that runs parallel to the A9. Its distinctive profile is seen by thousands of motorists daily. The summit is a vast plateau of stones and moss, offering little shelter but immense views. Fence posts run along the ridge, guiding the way in mist.

About Beinn Udlamain

The name means 'The Gloomy Mountain' or 'Rolling Hill'. It marks the watershed of Scotland here; water flows east to the North Sea and west to the Atlantic. It has been a transport corridor since General Wade built his military roads.
