Ben Alder Terrain Block

Ben Alder is a legendary remote mountain, a vast plateau of rock and moss rising high above the desolate shores of Loch Ericht. It is one of the great expeditions of the Highlands, requiring a long approach. The summit retains snow late into the year, and the sheer cliffs of the Garbh Coire are some of the most impressive in the land, holding climbs of great difficulty.

About Ben Alder

Famous as the hiding place of Bonnie Prince Charlie in 'Cluny's Cage' after Culloden. It also features prominently in Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Kidnapped' as part of the flight across the heather. It remains a symbol of the remote, romantic Highlands and the Jacobite struggle.
