Ben Lawers Terrain Block

Ben Lawers is the highest mountain in the southern Highlands and arguably the most botanically rich peak in Britain. Rising high above Loch Tay, its calcareous schist soils support a unique array of arctic-alpine flora. The mountain is owned by the National Trust for Scotland, who have done extensive work to restore the high-altitude vegetation and paths.

About Ben Lawers

Long believed to be over 4,000 feet, Ben Lawers was once the subject of a concerted effort by locals to build a cairn to reach the magic number—a cairn that inevitably collapsed. It stands at the centre of a rich archaeological landscape, with shielings and settlements dating back centuries.
