About Ben Ledi

Ben Ledi is a place of ancient significance. On its slopes, archaeologists have found Bronze Age cairns, and for centuries, it was said that locals would climb its heights to celebrate the summer solstice, a tradition allegedly dating back to the pagan festival of Beltane. In the Victorian era, it became a flagship peak for early mountain tourism, featuring in romantic literature. Near the summit, a humble cross stands as a memorial to the 4th Battalion of the Royal Tank Regiment, a somber reminder of the mountain's role in the national story.
