Ben Macdui Terrain Block

As the second highest peak in Britain, Ben Macdui is a giant of a mountain, a vast dome of granite that forms the heart of the Cairngorm plateau. Its scale is immense, offering a true arctic-alpine experience with a sense of space and remoteness that few other peaks can match. In winter, it becomes a serious undertaking, but in fair weather, the trek across the boulder-strewn plateau offers expansive views over the Lairig Ghru and towards the distant peaks of Deeside.

About Ben Macdui

For years, Ben Macdui was believed to be taller than Ben Nevis, a rivalry only settled by accurate mapping in the 19th century. It is famously the home of the 'Am Fear Liath Mòr' (The Big Grey Man), a supernatural presence said to stalk climbers in the mist, with heavy footsteps and a terrifying sense of dread.
