Rising dramatically above the hidden lochs of the Arkaig wilderness, the mountain provides an unrivalled vantage point for viewing the entire sweep of the central Highlands, from the Ben Nevis massif to the distant hills of the east. The name Ben Tee is derived from 'Beinn an-t-Sìthein', meaning the 'Hill of the Fairies' or 'Hill of the Seat', reflecting its importance in local folklore as a place of spirits and significance. Historically, it has been a focal point for those travelling through the Great Glen, serving as a lookout during the era of clan warfare and later as a surveyor's landmark for the construction of the Caledonian Canal. Geologically, it is part of the Moine supergroup, its rocks record the ancient tectonic pressures that created the Great Glen Fault. It remains a peak of character and elegance, embodying the rugged spirit of the western highlands.
