Ben Vuirich Terrain Block

About Ben Vuirich

The name Ben Vuirich—Beinn Bhùirich in Gaelic—is thought to mean the 'Hill of the Roaring', potentially referring to the sound of red deer stags or the winds that whistle through its high passes during the autumn rut. Historically, it has been a central part of the Duke of Atholl's hunting lands for centuries, a managed wilderness that has preserved the ancient traditions of stalking and highland stewardship. Geologically, it is composed of metamorphic Dalradian rocks, its rounded forms evidence of the massive glaciers that once smoothed this entire central landscape. It remains a witness to the enduring, wild character of the Perthshire highlands.
