Braeriach Terrain Block

Braeriach is arguably the finest of the Cairngorm giants, a colossal mountain with a complex, crescent-shaped summit plateau. Standing as the third highest peak in Britain, it guards the western side of the Lairig Ghru pass. Its northern corries are vast amphitheatres of rock and ice, holding snow patches that often last year-round, adding to its reputation as a place of arctic grandeur.

About Braeriach

Known as 'The Brindled Upland', Braeriach is famous for the 'Sphinx' snow patch in Garbh Coire Mor, historically the longest-lasting snow patch in Scotland. It has vanished completely only a handful of times in recorded history, serving as a barometer for the changing climate.
