Càrn a' Gheoidh Terrain Block

Càrn a' Gheoidh is the solitary western outlier of the Glenshee Munros. Its name 'Hill of the Goose' might refer to migrating wildfowl. Unlike its busy neighbours near the ski centre, it retains a wilder, quieter feel. The long, flat summit ridge is dotted with cairns and offers uninterrupted views towards the Beinn a' Ghlo range and the wilds of Atholl.

About Càrn a' Gheoidh

This mountain was a quiet backwater compared to the Cairnwell until the ski development brought easy access. However, it remains a sanctuary for mountain hares and ptarmigan. The deep heather on its lower slopes was historically important for grouse shooting.
