Càrn an Tuirc Terrain Block

Càrn an Tuirc, the 'Hill of the Boar', is a massive, stony dome on the east side of Glenshee. It is famous for its vast scree slopes and bare summit plateau. A quick ascent from the ski road makes it accessible, but its northern side drops into the wild and lonely Glen Callater, a favorite spot for wild camping.

About Càrn an Tuirc

The name recalls the wild boars that were once hunted in these hills. It was a key part of the traditional sporting estates. The steep western slopes were often used for training by the military and local climbing clubs due to their rugged, loose nature.
