Càrn Dearg Terrain Block

Càrn Dearg (Ben Alder) is a remote, rocky peak on the long eastern ridge of Ben Alder. It is a fine summit in its own right, offering spectacular views of Ben Alder's famous eastern corries. It requires a very long approach, usually as part of an expedition to the main peak, making it a prize for the committed.

About Càrn Dearg

Name means 'Red Cairn/Hill'. One of several similarly named Cairns. It sits above Loch Ericht in one of the most remote parts of the Central Highlands, an area associated with Bonnie Prince Charlie's flight after Culloden.
