Càrn Liath Terrain Block

Càrn Liath is the prominent grey peak that stands as the eastern sentinel of the Creag Meagaidh range. Its name 'Grey Cairn' refers to the light-coloured schist that forms its summit ridge. It is the most accessible of the group, usually climbed first on the classic 'Creag Meagaidh Circuit'. The ridge leading to the main massif is a delight, offering sweeping views over Loch Laggan.

About Càrn Liath

Historically, this peak was a distinct objective before being integrated into the popular circuit of the three Munros. The path from Aberarder is well-constructed, a legacy of the National Nature Reserve status which aims to balance access with conservation of the birch woods below.
