Cairn Gorm Terrain Block

Cairn Gorm gives its name to the entire mountain range, and thanks to the ski centre on its slopes, it is perhaps the most accessible of the high peaks. Despite the development on its northern flank, the summit offers magnificent views north over Strathspey and south across the untamed plateau to Loch Avon. It is a mountain of contrasts, with easy access on one side and precipitous cliffs falling into the deep Coire Cas and Coire an t-Sneachda on the others.

About Cairn Gorm

Home to the UK's highest funicular railway and weather station, Cairn Gorm has long been the centre of Scottish skiing. The 'Automatic Weather Station' on the summit has recorded some of the highest wind speeds in the UK, a testament to the ferocious weather that can scour this exposed peak.
