Cairn of Claise Terrain Block

Cairn of Claise is the highest point of the Mounth plateau between Glenshee and Braemar. It is a vast, rolling summit area, easily reached from the high ski roads of Glenshee. In winter, it can feel distinctly arctic. The views extend across the endless plateau to Lochnagar and the main Cairngorm massif.

About Cairn of Claise

Name means 'Cairn of the Hollow'. It is the hub of the high Mounth, from which ridges radiate. The area was historically important for grouse shooting and deer stalking, supporting the Highland sporting estate economy.
