Chno Dearg Terrain Block

Chno Dearg is a massive, rounded hill of reddish rock and grass that sits above Loch Treig. Its name 'Red Hill' accurately describes its appearance when the sun strikes its grassy slopes. Known as one of the 'easier' Munros in terms of technical difficulty, it nevertheless requires a slog up steep, pathless slopes. The broad, flat summit is a fantastic viewpoint for the Grey Corries and the Ben Nevis range to the west.

About Chno Dearg

This mountain lies in the heart of the area cleared for the Loch Treig reservoir, part of the Lochaber hydroelectric scheme. The 'Red Hill' stands as a silent witness to the engineering works that transformed the glen below. It is often climbed in conjunction with its neighbour, Stob Coire Sgriodain.
