Conachcraig Terrain Block

About Conachcraig

Conachcraig has for centuries been part of the vast royal hunting grounds of the eastern Grampians, its lands historically vital for the wild deer herds and the ancient highland clans. Historically, its ridges were vital lookouts for the hunters and later the stalkers who maintained this landscape for red deer. Geologically, it is composed of Cairngorm granite, its forms smoothed by the massive ice sheets that once covered the entire eastern Highlands, leaving behind a landscape of immense boulders and wind-scoured rock. Today, it remains a focal point for those seeking to understand the true breadth of the Cairngorm wilderness, providing a vantage point that connects the fertile glens with the raw, uncompromising power of the high mountains.
