About Creag an Dail Bheag

Creag an Dail Bheag has for centuries been part of the vast royal hunting grounds of the eastern Grampians, its lands historically vital for the wild deer herds and the ancient highland clans. Historically, its ridges were vital lookouts for the hunters and later the stalkers who maintained this landscape. Geologically, it is composed of Cairngorm granite, its forms smoothed by the massive ice sheets that once covered the entire eastern Highlands, leaving behind a landscape of immense boulders and wind-scoured rock. Today, it remains a witness to the enduring traditions of travel and exploration that define the central Highlands, offering a quiet, uncompromised encounter with the wild spirit of the hills.
