Creag Leacach Terrain Block

Creag Leacach is a distinctively rocky peak in the Glenshee area, its name 'Slabby Crag' perfectly describing its long, scree-covered ridge. It is usually approached from the Devil's Elbow on the Cairnwell Pass, offering a fine ridge walk connecting to Glas Maol. The dark, slabby rocks of the summit crest contrast sharply with the grassy slopes of neighbouring hills, giving it a more serious mountain feel.

About Creag Leacach

This mountain has been a landmark on the pass for centuries. The Devil's Elbow was a notorious hairpin bend on the old road, feared by early motorists. The ridge forms the boundary between Perthshire and Angus, and was historically marked by a drystone dyke that runs along the crest, remnants of which still remain.
