About Creag Mhor

Creag Mhòr has for centuries been part of the vast royal hunting grounds of the eastern Grampians, its lands historically part of the Abernethy and Inchrory estates. Historically, its ridges were crossed by the ancient stalking paths that connected the hidden glens of the Spey and the Dee. Geologically, it is composed of Cairngorm granite, its forms smoothed by the massive ice sheets that once covered the entire eastern Highlands, leaving behind a landscape of immense boulders and wind-scoured rock. Today, it remains a focal point for those seeking to understand the true breadth of the Cairngorm wilderness, providing a vantage point that connects the fertile glens with the raw, uncompromising power of the high mountains.
