Derry Cairngorm Terrain Block

Derry Cairngorm is a chaotic pile of pink granite boulders rising from the heart of the central Cairngorms. Located near the popular Derry Lodge, it is a characterful mountain with a distinct, tor-studded ridge. It provides a magnificent viewpoint for looking into the deep, dark heart of the Lairig Ghru and towards the massive bulk of Ben Macdui.

About Derry Cairngorm

Originally called 'Càrn Gorm an Doire' (Blue Hill of the Grove), it was renamed to avoid confusion with Cairn Gorm. The 'Derry' part refers to the ancient Caledonian pines that still grace its lower slopes.
