About Fraochaidh

Fraochaidh has for centuries been a vital landmark for travellers and hunters using the ancient drove roads that connected the northern and southern highlands. Historically, it was part of the vast lands of the Stewart and Campbell clans, its ridges serving as vital lookouts over the strategic route of the Great Pass of Brander. Geologically, it is part of the Dalradian metamorphic complex, its rocks recording millions of years of tectonic pressure, now evident in its folded rocks and sharp ridges. Today, it remains a peak for the connoisseur, requiring a rugged approach through the hidden glens that ensures its summit remains a place of profound highland silence and historical weight.
