Fuar Bheinn Terrain Block

Rising dramatically as a spectacular architectural bastion above the hidden shores of the Sound of Mull, Fuar Bheinn—the 'Cold Hill'—is a mountain of exceptional geometry and extraordinary character. As the highest peak in the Kingairloch region, it dominates the entire northern reaches of the Morvern wilderness. The mountain is defined by its massive, tiered metamorphic buttresses and sharp, rocky summit ridge which rises as a high bridge between the watery reaches of the south and the raw, uncompromised power of the High Highlands. From its airy summit, the view stretches across the flickering reaches of the FIRTH of LORN to the distant, serrated horizon of the Isle of Mull and the Inner Hebrides. It is a place where the heritage of the island and the ancient rock meet in a harmony of rugged highland drama, standing as a rugged sentinel over the edge of the world.

About Fuar Bheinn

True to its name—the 'Cold Hill'—this peak reflects the exposed, wind-swept nature of its high summit ridges. Historically, it was part of the vast royal hunting grounds of the Kingairloch estates, its lands historically vital for the wild deer herds and the ancient highland clans. Geologically, it is composed of metamorphic Moine rock, its rocks recording millions of years of tectonic pressure, now evident in its folded rocks and sharp ridges. It remains a witness to the enduring traditions of exploration that define the West Highlands, offering a quiet, uncompromised encounter with the wild spirit of the hills.
