Gairich Terrain Block

Gairich is a captivating, isolated peak overlooking Loch Quoich. Its distinctive capped summit is visible from miles away, acting as a beacon for hikers in the area. The approach involves crossing the dam and navigating boggy ground before a steep, enjoyable scramble up the eastern ridge. It stands as a lonely sentinel in the Rough Bounds of Knoydart, offering a sense of true wilderness and isolation that is hard to find elsewhere. The summit views are expansive, taking in the jagged peaks of the Rough Bounds.

About Gairich

Name means 'Roaring' or 'Short Peak'. The 'Roaring' might refer to the stags in the corrie or the wind. The damming of Loch Quoich in the 1950s isolated it further, cutting off old approach routes and creating a new landscape.
