Liathach - Spidean a' Choire Leith Terrain Block

Spidean a' Choire Leith is the highest point of Liathach and the eastern Munro summit. It is a pyramid of white quartzite blocks that gleams atop the dark red sandstone terraces. The ascent involves steep scrambling and exposure. standing on the summit, one feels truly suspended above the glen, with the jagged teeth of the Am Fasarinen pinnacles leading the eye westwards.

The 'Peak of the Grey Corrie' is the central keep of this mountain fortress. Its geology tells the story of ancient continents; the sandstone is some of the oldest rock in the world. It is a mountain that commands respect and has inspired awe in visitors since the first Victorian tours.
