Lochnagar Terrain Block

Lochnagar (Cac Carn Beag) is the jewel of the Mounth, a mountain of Royal grandeur made famous by Lord Byron. Its north-facing corrie is one of the spectacular sights of Scotland, a crescent of sheer cliffs rising 200 metres above a dark, brooding lochan. It is often considered the finest Munro in the east, combining ease of access from Balmoral with true high-mountain drama.

About Lochnagar

Immortalised by Lord Byron in his poem 'Lachin y Gair', the mountain has deep connections to the Royal family, lying on the Balmoral estate. Queen Victoria frequently ascended it, and its name evokes the romance of the Highlands.
