Maol Chean-dearg Terrain Block

Maol Chean-dearg, the 'Bald Red Head', is a striking mountain of Torridonian sandstone. It stands separate from the main Torridon ridges, a solitary sentinel with a distinctive rounded dome of red rock. The ascent involves steep scree and easy scrambling, rewarding the climber with some of the finest views in the highlands, looking out to Skye and the Torridon giants.

About Maol Chean-dearg

Its red sandstone cap makes it visible from miles away. The popular 'Coulins' nearby are often visited, but Maol Chean-dearg stands apart. It is a favorite among photographers for the contrast between the red rock and the white quartzite screes of its neighbor.
