Meall Chuaich Terrain Block

Meall Chuaich is a large, solitary lump of a hill located near Dalwhinnie. Its cairn is a prominent landmark visible from the A9. The ascent is straightforward, following a good track for much of the way and then a steady climb up heather slopes. The view from the top is surprisingly good, especially towards the Ben Alder range.

About Meall Chuaich

The name means 'Hill of the Quaich' (a drinking cup), perhaps referring to the shape of a corrie. It sits on the edge of the Monadh Liath and was a traditional area for grouse shooting. The aqueduct passed on the approach is part of the extensive hydro-electric schemes of the Highlands.
