Meall Greigh Terrain Block

Meall Greigh is the easternmost peak of the Ben Lawers range. It is a steep, grassy mountain that towers above the Lawers burn. While less shapely than some of its neighbours, it occupies a fantastic position, offering uninterrupted views eastwards to Loch Tay and Kenmore. It is usually climbed as part of the Lawers circuit, providing a relatively easy descent back to the road.

About Meall Greigh

The name means 'Hill of the Horse Studs', recalling the days when these high slopes were used for grazing horses in summer. The ruins of summer shielings dot the lower slopes, a reminder of the transhumance lifestyle of the past. It lies within the Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve.
