Meall nan Tarmachan Terrain Block

Meall nan Tarmachan is a superb mountain, famous for the Tarmachan Ridge traverse. It is one of the most popular short ridge walks in Scotland. The ridge is narrow and rocky in places, with a 'Bad Step' that adds a thrill of scrambling. The south-facing corrie is a sun-trap that holds a great variety of mountain flowers.

About Meall nan Tarmachan

The 'Hill of the Ptarmigan'. These birds are masters of camouflage and can still be seen among the rocks. The mountain is part of the Ben Lawers NTS estate, managed for conservation. The ridge has introduced thousands of walkers to the joys of scrambling.
