Morven Terrain Block

Rising prominently between the rivers Don and Dee, Morven is a solitary and commanding Corbett in Aberdeenshire. Its rounded slopes rise high above its lesser neighbours between Ballater and Strathdon, making it a very prominent hill when seen from the east and an excellent viewpoint. The summit offers magnificent views across to the Cairngorms and beyond, rewarding those who make the ascent of this fine outlying peak.

About Morven

Morven's name derives from the Gaelic 'A' Mhòr Bheinn' meaning 'The Big Mountain'. Its isolated position east of the main Cairngorm massif has made it a landmark for travellers through Aberdeenshire for centuries. The summit triangulation pillar marks one of the finest viewpoints in the eastern Highlands.
