Mullach nan Coirean Terrain Block

Mullach nan Coirean is the westernmost peak of the Mamores. Unlike its rocky neighbours, it is a mountain of red granite and grass. The ridge walk from Stob Ban offers a delightful contrast of white quartzite and red granite. The summit provides a grandstand view of the nearby Ben Nevis and the shimmering Loch Linnhe.

About Mullach nan Coirean

The 'Summit of the Corries'. Its red granite was quarried commercially in the past. It is often the final peak of a Mamores round or a first summit for those starting from Glen Nevis. The contrast in rock types is a geological textbook example.
