Sgùrr Alasdair Terrain Block

Sgùrr Alasdair is the highest point on the Isle of Skye and the monarch of the Cuillin. It is a small, pointed summit perched atop the Great Stone Shoot, a massive scree run. The view from the top is arguably the finest mountain panorama in Britain, encompassing the entire jagged ridge. Reaching it requires a scramble, usually up the loose, exhausting scree, a physical challenge that guards one of the most prestigious summits in the country.

About Sgùrr Alasdair

Named after Alexander Nicolson (Alasdair), the sheriff and climber who first ascended it (or popularized it). Before him, it was deemed inaccessible. It is a volcanic masterpiece, the eroded remains of a magma chamber. The first ascent in 1873 marked a new era in Scottish mountaineering history.
