Sgùrr Dearg Terrain Block

Sgùrr Dearg is unique among Munros because its highest point is not the summit cairn but the top of the Inaccessible Pinnacle ('In Pinn') that perches on its crest. The 'Red Peak' itself is easily reached, but the Pinnacle requires a rock climb (Moderate grade) and an abseil descent. It is the holy grail for Munro baggers, the final hurdle for many.

The 'Red Peak' is overshadowed by its notorious fin of rock. The In Pinn was once thought unclimbable. It remains the only Munro summit requiring technical climbing gear for a safe ascent, adding a serious edge to the pursuit of the list.
