Sgurr a' Ghreadaidh Terrain Block

Sgurr a' Ghreadaidh is the highest peak on the central Cuillin ridge. It is a stunning blade of gabbro, the summit perched on a knife-edge arete. The scramble to reach it involves some of the finest ridge walking in Britain. The views are dizzying, dropping vertically into Coruisk on one side and Coire a' Ghreadaidh on the other.

About Sgurr a' Ghreadaidh

The 'Peak of the Torment' or 'Stirring'. The name might refer to the turbulent winds that buffet its exposed crest. It sits at the heart of the Black Cuillin, a range that defied early mapmakers due to magnetic anomalies in the rock.
